The Amazon Maa15 project involved electrical installations for a massive IT facility of 1 Million square feet in Chennai, one of the leading hubs of the IT industry in India. The project was commissioned by Amazon Development Centre (India) Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., the world's largest online retailer and cloud computing company. The project aimed to create a modern and efficient electrical system for the facility that would support the operations and services of Amazon and its clients.
Scope of Project
The scope of works for the project included supply, installation, testing, and commissioning (SITC) of low-tension (LT) electrical components, such as:
- Rising Mains: SESIPL installed vertical rising mains to distribute power from the main LT panel to the various floors of the facility, ensuring adequate and reliable power supply for the electrical load.
- Busbar Trunking System (BBT): SESIPL used BBT instead of conventional cabling to reduce the space and fire hazards, improve the aesthetics and flexibility, and enhance the efficiency and safety of the power distribution system.
- LT Panels: SESIPL supplied and installed LT panels to control and monitor the power distribution and protection of the electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
- Cables: SESIPL used high-quality cables for the power and lighting circuits, ensuring optimal performance and safety of the electrical system.
- Distribution Boards: SESIPL installed modular and compact distribution boards to facilitate the smooth functioning of the electrical load in different areas of the facility, such as offices, labs, workshops, etc.
- Light Fixtures: SESIPL provided and installed a variety of light fixtures, such as LED lights, tube lights, spotlights, and emergency lights, to create a bright and comfortable environment for the employees and visitors of Amazon.
- Switches and Sockets: SESIPL fitted stylish and durable switches and sockets to meet the diverse electrical needs of the facility, such as charging devices, operating appliances, and controlling lighting.
- Other Low-side Electrical Materials: SESIPL also supplied and installed all other essential low-side electrical materials, such as conduits, junction boxes, earthing materials, etc., to ensure a complete and robust electrical system for the facility.
